athelites - The Season Starts Here

Twins Hannah and Rebecca Kuhn, 15 year-old 10th graders at John Carroll, both play offense on the JV lacrosse team last year. The girls worked hard at Athelites to improve their skills before starting their first year of high school lacrosse. “I can do 45 pushups now. When I started I could only do 11,” says Rebecca.

The drills improved the girls’ strength, stamina, and skills. “I liked all the drills we did,” Hannah says. After Athelites, “my speed and stick skills are better. When my parents watched the training and saw all the exercises we were doing, they really thought it was good for us.”

Because of Athelites’ Player Rating system, “I realized what I needed to work on and what I needed to improve on,” Hannah explains. She admits that she probably wouldn’t have worked as hard without the rating, “because I would have already though I was good enough. I wouldn’t have tried as hard.”

“The Player Rating helped with my confidence, on shooting I [improved enough to] almost beat a girl who’s going to Ohio State on a scholarship,” says Rebecca. Her right-handed shot speed improved to 56 mph, and her left-handed scoop improved over 68%.

Both girls believe Ephraim’s encouragement was essential to their improvement.. He would really push us,” says Hannah. She adds, “Ephraim would help you individually, and really tell you what you needed to work on. A regular coach focuses on the whole team altogether, and they don’t always work with everyone individually.”

Rebecca believes Athelites’ greatest benefit is, “Getting in better shape, and Ephraim helping you out and telling you what you’re doing wrong and what you’re doing really good too.”

Many players, like Rebecca, learn to become team leaders by modeling the older players they workout with at Athelites. “I’m more confident on my team, because I helped a lot of the younger kids out.” She says, “I hope to get on varsity soon, and eventually I’d like to get a college scholarship for playing lacrosse.”

The girls highly recommend Athelites as a skill and conditioning builder. Says Hannah, “I think Athelites would help other kids improve a lot and get more touches on the ball before the lacrosse season.”
