“I’ve played basketball since I was five years old, and I’ve always liked it,” says Julie Trinchere, a freshman at C. Milton Wright High School. Although she’s only a freshman, she earned a spot as a point guard on the school’s varsity women’s basketball team.
Five years ago, Julie began training with Ephraim Dorsey of Athelites to develop her game. Julie sees a lot of improvements in her ability to play basketball, because of Athelites. Their drills have, “given me stamina and endurance,” Julie says. “It’s also helped me improve my ball skills. It’s easier for me to get by other players.” For Julie, the most challenging part of the training is, “always pushing myself as hard as I can.” It helps to have a trainer who uses positive motivation. “Ephraim always encourages us a lot and gives us a lot of support. He also shows us ways to do things better,” she says. She knows that it’s her work with Athelites that has made the difference, because, “after training hard with Ephraim, I see results in my game. I’m more consistent with my shot and form.”
Athelites’ Player Rating motivated Julie to excel. “It helped me improve in areas and showed me where I needed to work. It’s useful, because it shows an ideal player.” The ideal player ratings included on each Player Rating, show athletes where their skills, abilities, and bodies differ from those of the scientifically “perfect” player. It enables them to see which improvements will make them better players.
As her skills improve, Julie enjoys basketball even more. “As I’ve been getting better, my love for the game increases.” Her self-confidence is also increasing, and she’s more focused. “I always got A and B grades, but Athelites helped me to find balance,” Julie says.
To other athletes who want to improve their skills, Julie advises, “Always be confident, always try your hardest, set goals, and try to accomplish them step-by-step.”
